Beautiful Village (Lake District) by Junko Fujiwara won the AQS Best Hand Workmanship Award at AQS QuiltWeek - Paducah 2026.

A variation on Junko's similarly titled Beautiful Village quilt, Beautiful Village (Lake District) incorporates a series of lakes around the titular village to create a change of scenery which brings a feeling of tranquility and calm. Using a combination of hand appliqué, hand embroidery, hand piecing, and hand quilting, it isn't too hard to see why Junko took home the award for Best Hand Workmanship.
