The National Quilt Museum's New Quilts From An Old Favorite exhibit has returned, this time with a focus on food. A challenge was sent out to quilters to create a quilt under the following conditions: "The quilt must be about food in some recognizable way and include an interpretation of a block pattern of the artist’s choosing." As usual, a wide variety of spectacular original designs have been chosen that whole heartedly, or should we say whole stomached-ly, embraced the theme of food, and are now on display at the museum.

Textile artists 35 and younger are invited to submit their artwork to the debut YEA! Exhibition, taking place at the 2026 Houston International Quilt Festival. The show is curated by Lisa Ellis and Katie Pasquini, who have teamed up to curate a juried art show for young artists in the quilting art space. With cash prize and networking opportunities, we hope this show shines a spotlight on new artists in the textile space.

The exhibition brings together digital versions of traditional African ensembles from prestigious museum collections as well as contemporary looks from the collection of The Museum at FIT by fashion designers from eight African countries: Côte d’Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Mali, Nigeria, and South Africa."

An Ecology of Quilts: The Natural History of American Textiles brings together approximately 30 examples, spanning the 18th to 20th centuries, from the Museum’s rich collection of more than 600 quilts and presents them from an ecological perspective, tracing patterns of relationships between the environment and traditional quilting practices.
The Bayeux Tapestry is coming to London for a major exhibition at the British Museum from September 2026 to July 2027.

Carol Johnson has won hundreds and hundreds of ribbons over the past 43 years. She then took 609 of those ribbons and stitched them together into a quilt, which won her yet another blue ribbon in 2023.
