The Quilt Show Puzzle: "A Thin and Fragile Veil" by Nysha Nelson
Do a puzzle of Nysha Nelson's quilt, A Thin and Fragile Veil.
A longtime viewer of Simply Quilts, Nysha had never seen in person any "real" quilts that were meant for show when he began his quilting journey. In 2006, he had been in living in Miami but spent the summer in Nashville. At the time, Nysha was painting and watching Simply Quilts when a woman who did a photo mosaic quilt was the guest. This inspired him to create A Thin and Fragile Veil. He says of the piece, "The difference between possible and impossible is perception. A long time practitioner of Zentangle I wanted to adapt tangles (patterns) to continuous line free-motion quilting. Several were simple, many took a little more work and others I thought were not possible. Altering my mindset from “impossible” to “I haven’t figured it out yet!” led me to discover how to quilt ‘tripoli’ one of the tangles featured in this quilt."
