Featured Quilt - Second Place Alternative Techniques at Houston 2025
Automne by Colette Dumont is the perfect quilt for celebrating the Autumnal season and the Thanksgiving holiday. Featuring beautiful Fall colors, and even some for the upcoming Christmas season, Colette's quilt won Second Place - Alternative Techniques at the Houston International Quilt Festival 2025. Earlier in the year Automne won the Marie White Masterpiece Award (Sponsored Moore's Sewing Center) at Road to California 2025, and a slew of other awards the last few years as well. As to the inspiration for the name and color palette of the quilt, Colette says, "Nature in autumn is full of colors, which inspired this quilt. It is the harvest time for me as a home gardener, celebrating the abundance of fruits and vegetables. Winter follows next, and the beaded border represents it with the colors of Christmas—white, red, and green."

A New Generation of Quilter's Are Leading the Way
Meet Lorelai Kuecker, a 15-year-old sensation shining a light on the next generation of quilters and inspiring excitement with her incredible skills. Along with creating award-winning quilts — including First place in the QuiltCon youth division — she’s now using her math and longarming skills to design custom garments to complement each quilt.
In our new show, Lorelai demonstrates how to make a fashion statement with bell bottoms by upcycling a pair of jeans with quilted inserts. She walks through each step — from preparing the template, selecting a suitable pattern to quilting and finishing — then demonstrates how to insert the panels and achieve a clean, polished look with binding.

"Stargazer Splendor" by Andrea Brokenshire
Using a photo of a stargazer lily that she took in her mother's garden as the basis of the quilt, the main reason that Andrea wanted to create Stargazer Splendor was to make the anthers, "the part of a stamen that contains the pollen", of the flower. Enthralled with their texture, and their contrast against the fuchsia color, it was this feature that Andrea focused her work on this piece. As a surprise bonus, there's is a bug hiding in the quilt. Can you spot where it is?
