Featured Quilt - First Place Large Quilts 1st Entry in an AQS Paducah Quilt Contest at AQS QuiltWeek Paducah 2026
My Love Entwined by Lize Blignaut won First Place - Large Quilts - 1st Entry in an AQS Paducah Quilt Contest (Sponsored by Gammill®) at AQS QuiltWeek - Paducah 2026. You may recognize Lize's quilt as it was featured in the cover for Alex' Monday LIVE where she talked all about this year's Paducah Quilt Show. Or, you may have seen it last year when it won Second Place in the Appliqué category (Sponsored by TheQuiltShow.com) at the Houston International Quilt Festival 2025. Either way, once you've seen Lize's quilt you will be impressed and wowed by all the work she put into it.
Using the Love Entwined: 1790 Marriage Coverlet pattern by Esther Aliu as her design source, Lize began the quilt with a group of friends. She says, "A group of my quilting friends and I started this quilt in 2014, each choosing our own fabrics and working at our own pace. My fabric color inspiration came from a stack of about five pieces of fabric purchased at the Houston International Quilt Festival before 2014, which consisted of brown, gray, and tan fabrics. One of my friends suggested adding purple to the mix. That seemed to be exactly what it needed."

Keeping Memories Alive Through The Help of A Beautiful Bear
In our latest show, Lezleigh Kleibrink teaches how to make a simple four-panel memory bear from a single shirt, as a way for people experiencing loss or crisis to cope.
Guiding viewers through each step, from cutting out the pattern and assembling the pieces, to placing the eyes and carefully matching tricky belly and bottom seams, Lezleigh also shows how to embellish the bear with personal items such as patches, jewelry, and ribbon, adding meaningful details that enhance the memories connected to the wearer.

There's No Cutting Corners When It Comes to Corner Blocks and Borders
They say that April showers bring May flowers, but in our case May brought us the Month 5 patterns to continue working on Game On!, The Quilt Show's 2026 Block Of the Month designed by Becky Goldsmith. And who else but Barbara Black would be with us to guide you through the process of what to do next. She says, "This month we make one 3" border and one 6" corner block. This border is one of my favorites, I use it a lot in my quilts. I like it so much I am using it all around for my personal PRINTS version."

The Quilt Show Puzzle: A Ravishing "Red Romance" |

"Red Romance" by Carolyn Hock
The very first quilt that Carolyn ever made wasn't a Block Of the Month, but rather a "Buck" Of the Month, meaning she went to her local quilt store, gave them a dollar, and in return they gave her a baggie with a little bit of Alex Anderson fabric in it. These pieces paved the way for Carolyn to create Red Romance. Once she finished her quilt, Carolyn went down to La Veta, Colorado for a taping of The Quilt Show when Sue Nickels was a guest. Sue was demonstrating a scalloped edge, and once Carolyn saw that she knew she had to add it to her own Red Romance quilt.
