Featured Quilt - First Place Wall Quilts Quilter's Choice at AQS QuiltWeek Paducah 2026

Cathedral Trees by Angie Tustison won First Place - Wall Quilts - Quilter's Choice (Sponsored by Elna USA) at AQS QuiltWeek - Paducah 2026. In addition to its win at Paducah, Angie's quilt also took home First Place - Naturescape earlier in the year at Road to California 2026. About her work and its inspiration, Angie says, "This quilt is based on a photo I took of my husband and our dogs in the redwoods near our home in Northern California. Taking photos for an art quilt was a great excuse to get out and go for a walk in a beautiful place. The redwoods have always been home for me, and I enjoyed working with such a familiar and comforting landscape. I especially enjoyed creating the threadwork details with machine embroidery on water-soluble stabilizer."

Lezleigh Kleibrink Shows You How to Make Memory Pillows

Put Your Personal Touch on a Meaningful Memory Pillow

Lezleigh Kleibrink shares the step-by-step process of making a memory pillow from a shirt, explaining the design decisions involved and offering tips on how to personalize them by including service pins, lettering, handwriting or mementos. She walks through choices such as what to cut from a T-shirt, color selection, and layout, showing how thoughtful planning shapes the final pillow. This approach helps makers create a meaningful piece while learning techniques that can also be applied to quilting.

Quilt Stories from the Museum of Texas Tech University: Calendar Quilt

From Texas Tech: "Calendar tea towels were popular in the United States from the 1950s through the 1980s. Introduced in 1954 by Stevens Linen Works in Massachusetts to boost sales of plain linen towels, they became a staple in American homes. They were functional, inexpensive kitchen decorations that were often gifted at Christmas. However, seldom have they found their way into quilts as they did in the one featured here."

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Soothing Silks to See

"Silk Jewels" by Lynda Faires

Lynda had the good fortune to have access to factory offcuts from a silk tie factory for a limited amount of time. Even though she no longer has access to the factory, in the time that she did she was able to gather an exquisite collection of silks. Those silks were used in the creation of Silk Jewels, a personal quilt made by Lynda not to be exhibited in competition, but to be used on her bed for her to enjoy the beauty of all the colors of the silks.
