Featured Quilt - So Much to Discover

Wen-Tsz Jeng's quilt, Joyful Stitches - Happiness, was on display at the Houston International Quilt Festival 2025 as part of the Taiwan Patchwork Quilt Association Members exhibit. You'll want to take a close look at the details of the quilt to discover the many different techniques that were used, including what appears to be braiding, couching, and more.

Wen-Tsz Jeng writes: "Vibrant colors and freely flowing lines intertwine through patchwork, yarn, and machine stitching, coming together to create a joyful and cheerful atmosphere. This piece reflects the feelings I experienced while completing it, and through it, I've developed a deeper connection and sensitivity to color."

Textile Talks: Cut from the Same Cloth - Textile & Technology

Find Out the Connection Between Tech and Textiles

Presented by Surface Design Association: "Textiles have not only fueled the creative inspiration of artists throughout history, but they have also provided the catalyst for technological innovation. Joseph Marie Jacquard, a French merchant, invented the “jacquard machine” in 1801, which simplified the manufacture of textiles and later became the inspiration for IBM's first computer introduced in the 1940s and 1950s. This exhibition investigates the many unexplored relationships between craft and technology while demonstrating how contemporary art practice has seamlessly embraced both. Join us on January 21 as Christine Duval, Curator of Cut From the Same Cloth: Textile & Technology, discusses the exhibition’s concept and highlights several featured artists, exploring how their practices— whether rooted in weaving or in digital innovation—intersect in unexpected ways."

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Trying a New Method

"Pushing Boundaries" by Becky Goldsmith

Pushing Boundaries by Becky Goldsmith was created when she ran out of things to sew. What Becky wanted to accomplish with this quilt, and wants to revisit in a future one, is the idea that when you make a vine design it normally is carried seamlessly from panel to panel but for this quilt the vines would not meet up perfectly and create an off-kilter look. This fractured nature allowed the quilt to be created square by square instead of having a need to focus on the center.
