Featured Quilt - Best of Show at AQS QuiltWeek Daytona Beach 2026
The Sample Book Quilt by Pat Holly received the Best of Show award at this weekend's AQS QuiltWeek Daytona Beach 2026, which concluded yesterday. With this honor, Pat's quilt has now won TWO Best of Show awards at different AQS shows in the last year, this one, and Best of Show at AQS QuiltWeek - Lancaster 2025.
Not to diminish those two awards under its belt, The Sample Book Quilt also took home the Best Stationary Machine Workmanship Award at AQS QuiltWeek - Grand Rapids 2025. Pat says of the inspiration and creation for the quilt, "Made of silk fabric, this quilt was inspired by 19th century textile sample books in the Museum of Printed Fabrics, Mulhouse, France.”

Textile Talks: Boro - The Hidden and the Visible in Japanese Mended Textiles |
Learning About a Cycle of Recyclability
Presented by the International Quilt Museum: ""Boro" is a Japanese term associated with the cycle of use and reuse — of wearing something out and mending it, over and over. In rural communities across Japan, mainly before World War II, boro was a way of life. Everyday textiles such as bed covers and clothing were repeatedly repaired using scraps of fabric and simple running stitches. Join the International Quilt Museum’s Marin Hanson for a Textile Talk with boro expert Dr. Yoshiko Wada, in which they will look at and discuss the IQM’s current exhibition, “Boro: The Hidden and the Visible in Japanese Mended Textiles.”"

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Putting Templates to Use |

"Chelsea" by Tara Miller
When creating patterns, Tara tends to make acrylic templates to go along with them. Her quilt Legacy Wheel has such a set of templates, and Tara didn't want those templates to be used just for that quilt and intended them to be versatile. So she has made other patterns that use those Legacy Wheel templates in a different format, which includes this quilt entitled Chelsea.

What Are You a "Fan" Of?
For Tara Miller, our featured guest on this week's show, she became fascinated with the crazy quilt craze of 1880–1920, and decided to reinterpret those fan blocks into her modern Fan Girl quilt pattern. Maybe you will be inspired to do something similar by watching any one of our almost 500 shows and will discover something that you will become of fan of too! |
