Featured Quilt - Best in Show at QuiltCon 2026

QuiltCon 2026 is in full swing right now, and we have the big winner for you to view. Mom Jeans by Carolyn McKibbin won Best in Show. Carolyn had this to say about the inspiration behind the quilt and why she wanted to create it. "Upcycled denim was the inspiration for this quilt. I cut up 9 old pairs of jeans I wore in early motherhood, ones that were sitting in a box taking up space waiting to be donated. Being aware that much of the clothing we donate ends up in the landfills and waterways of third-world countries, I opted to use this fabric to make a quilt that can provide warmth, comfort, and artistic expression."

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Going From Warm to Cool

"Kaleidoscope" by Tara Miller

When making Kaleidoscope, Tara really wanted to focus on contrasting warm and cool fabrics since she was using prints. She feels that it can really awaken a quilt and make it exciting when you contrast the two. She also wanted a strong vertical element, so she used the warms on that area of the quilt to draw the viewers attention, while letting the cool blues and greens take a backdrop.
