Featured Quilt - Crystallize Your Vision

Recrystallize by Iris Gowen was featured as part of the Rebound - Renew - Reimagine Exhibit (Sponsored by the Manhattan Quilters Guild, Curated by the Manhattan Quilters Guild) at the Houston International Quilt Festival 2025. The exhibit was described as featuring, "19 new works that celebrate a return to pre-Covid life, rebounding from restrictions that limited personal contact and renewing activities that were not possible during the pandemic. Each quilt is defined by a title beginning with "re." Meditations on personal memories or emotions inspired some artists, while others used solitude to contemplate color, texture, or process."

For her piece in Rebound - Renew - Reimagine, Recrystallize, Iris says, "This quilt seeks to represent the process by which molecules rearrange and reorganize. Established elements may dissolve into a state of instability and chaos, but, as conditions allow, they reassemble into an even more solid and lasting formation. From the bottom, colors separate and progress through Crazy quilt geometries into differential crystals at the top."

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Keeping Everything "On Pointe"

"On Pointe" by Renée Fleuranges-Valdes

Renée grew up outside of Manhattan with a family of theater people, meaning they were very involved in the Broadway, musical, dance, and ballet worlds. You name it, they did it. Participating in these types of events, Renée noticed how much work a dancer puts into keeping their body in shape. On Pointe was her way of paying homage to something that has given her joy for decades, the ballet and dance community who keep everything "on point" in their performance and work.
